National Database of Unorganised Workers (e-Shram)

Introduction:-

According to the survey carried out by the National Statistical Office (NSO) during the year 2017-18, there are around 38 crore workers engaged in unorganised sector in India. At present, there is no centralised database for the unorganised workers. In the absence of such centralised database, Central Government, as well as State Government, are finding it difficult to address the issue of the unorganised workers including those of Migrant workers and Construction workers. A comprehensive data of unorganised & Migrant workers shall help extend social security schemes to them. The Central Government has created a national portal to facilitate the registration of the unorganised workers including migrant workers, which are the most vulnerable section of the labour force through a National Data Base of Unorganised Workers (NDUW).
