About Us

  • It is estimated that most working population of the country belongs to the unorganized sector and they are deprived of the facilities available under law. To improve their living conditions by providing social security, the Government of India has enacted the Unorganised Workers’ Social Security Act, 2008.  The State Government has framed the Unorganized Workers Social Security (Karnataka) Rules, 2009 and constituted the Karnataka State Unorganized Workers’ Social Security Board during the year 2009.

    Members of the Board:-

    • Hon’ble Minister of Labour, Government of Karnataka- Ex-officio Chairman
    • Secretary to Government, Department of Labour – Ex-officio Member Secretary
    • Representatives of Unorganized Sector Workers- Seven (7),
    • Representatives of Employers of Unorganised Sector Workers-Seven (7),
    • Sitting members of Legislative Assembly-Two (2),
    • Eminent persons from civil society-Five(5),
    • Representatives of the State Government Departments- Seven (7).
